Public Service Europe (http://www.publicserviceeurope.com/) is an editorial service. Daniel Mason, a journalist covering European business and politics for Public Service Europe, just published an article with the title “E-government takes policy-making social” on the 27th of July, 2011. The article refers to the impact of social networking sites on public engagement illustrating the WeGov project, along with a discussion of several other related FP7 projects.

The article discusses the Commission’s and the Member States’ commitment to develop and promote more useful and better ways, relying on ICT solutions, for businesses and citizens to participate in public policy consultation. The EU’s main instrument for funding such technological research is the seventh framework program (FP7), which is currently backing nine innovative e-government projects. The article continues by presenting WeGov via its objectives and highlights of an interview conducted by Daniel Mason with the WeGov Project Coordinator, Paul Walland.
