Who we are
mission statement:
RESHAPING PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY
Gov2u was founded in 2005 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization by a group of visionary professionals from the fields of Legislative Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and community activism.
We believe that ICT collaborative tools have the power to re-define the concept of governance. Here's why: the internet offers virtual spaces where citizens, in absolute equality, can reclaim an active role in the political process. In essence, these virtual rooms today have the same function as the public squares in ancient times, where citizens gathered to exchange ideas and jointly agree to common solutions. So ironically, it is only through sophisticated information and communication technology that we will successfully revive the fundamental principles of democracy and citizenship, and confront the global issues of our time.

Our mission consists of re-creating these virtual channels and promoting e-Democracy as an optimal medium for more inclusive and participatory forms of government.
We believe that by giving citizens more means to voice their ideas and suggestions, we also assist elected officials in carrying out their representative functions more effectively, and we make legislative bodies and public institutions more efficient, transparent and accountable.
